Important and contemporary theme: unemployment, parental job loss

Mr. Paw, Flappie’s dad, is working hard. He is digging the longest tunnel in the world! But one day, Mr Paw loses his job at the tunnel. This makes him so sad that he even forgets to tickle his son behind the ears. How will the family cope now daddy can’t earn his carrots any more?

Can Flappie and his best friend Snibbles find a new job for Mr Paw?

In order to allow children to express, explore and cope with the emotions they feel in a similar situation, the last few pages of the book offer ideas for games, small art projects and other activities. All of these have been tested on young children (3 – 7 years) and promote enriching exchanges between children and the people raising or teaching them. The focus is always on the child’s emotional well-being. The outlined activities are applicable both in a family and a classroom environment.

The book appeared in Dutch in 2014 (with Abimo publishers) and is currently being distributed in the Netherlands and Belgium. Rights have been sold to China.
